Westward Ho! is an amazing destination for Kite Sports in the UK. At low water we have two miles of sandy beach that faces West. The predominant South Westerly winds are perfect for kite sports although the beach works well from South West to North winds.

We can see the whole beach from the shop window and are almost always here for advise plus any repairs you may need. We even have the beach camera on at all times, you can check out the conditions and see if others are already out. Check is out here- SHOP WEBCAM

Kitesurfing map at Westward Ho!, UK. Where to go and dangers

Westward Ho! works well in winds from the South West to North. South winds tend to be very gusty as it comes over the Taws and anything with East in it is offshore.

Due to the pebble ridge and the fact you have to leave 100m of clear sand up to the pebbles, Westward Ho! can't be used around High Water. Best time to use the beach is from 2 to 3hrs after High Water, through low water right up to about 2-3hrs before the next High Water. The 100m rule allows people/dog walkers safe passage along the beach, also due to the ridge height, you can get acceleration of the wind close to it due to compression that can suck kites over it.

NO large kites to be flown on the burrows as it interferes with the golf course. Kites can be pumped up on the burrows grass, walked over the ridge to the beach and launched there.

Buggys/Landboard/blocarts helmets must be worn when using the beach.

Land kiters must give way to walkers/dog walkers and keep clear of children. It is a privalidge to use the beach and not a right!

All kite sport participants must have 3rd party insurance.
